Time’s Top 10 Gadgets (2007)
#1. Apple iPhone
The iPhone changed the way we think about how mobile media devices should look, feel and perform. The design is exceptional inside and out: It’s got a slick glass-and-stainless steel case and an elegant touch screen loaded with eye candy. It’s an iPod and a 2-megapixel camera. Images and video clips display vertically or horizontally — they reorient themselves depending on how you hold the thing. When the phone detects a wireless network within range — your own home wi-fi set up or somebody else’s — it lets you tap once to connect, and then proceed with your Web surfing, Google mapping, emailing and other activities that can otherwise be painfully slow over AT&T’s cellular network — the only one, unfortunately, that carries iPhone calls. Halo 3
#1 Halo 3
Like a pebble that has been rounded over the centuries by the gentle splashing of the ocean waves, Halo 3 has become the perfect hardcore first-person combat simulator. By dint of painstaking labor on the part of its developer, Bungie, it has been refined over three installments to the point where it delivers only pure, unadulterated gaming bliss. Every combat is even-sided and complex and can be waged in multiple ways, using an arsenal of long- and short-range weapons, plus grenades and hand-to-hand moves. Every level is perfectly paced and balanced and graced with soaring architectural compositions. Plus it’s graphically gorgeous. The epic storyline and the stirring score don’t hurt either. In one of the greatest years video gaming has ever seen, Halo 3 is the very best of the bunch. Read the rest of this entry »

Time’s Top 10 Returning TV Series (2007)
#1. The Sopranos
HBOThe show that changed TV drama went out not with a bang — well, famously, it went out with nothing at all — but its final string of episodes were as searing, literate and unflinching as any since its first season. David Chase stripped the show down, one unsentimentally eliminated character at a time, to its dark core: a study of a fascinating, evil man. As brutal in its family-vacation scenes as in its gangland whackings, this final season left us with nothing, and everything. Read the rest of this entry »

Time’s Top 10 Oddball News Stories (2007)
#1. A Major Head Case
Margret Wegner underwent surgery in August to remove a pencil that had been stuck inside her head for 55 years. The German woman had suffered from chronic headaches and nosebleeds after falling at age 4 with the writing implement in hand. “The pencil went right through my skin and disappeared into my head,” she said. It was too risky at the time to remove the three-inch object, which did not pierce any vital parts of her brain. But thanks to significant technological improvements, this summer surgeons in Berlin were able to remove all but the pencil’s tip.

Mother Theresa
Time’s Top 10 Religion Stories (2007)
#1. The Mother Teresa Revelations
Once the shock of Doubleday’s August disclosure — that Teresa’s private letters testified that she could not sense her beloved God for most of her last half-century — had abated, more serious questions could be joined. Did her epic “dryness” make her a greater saint or some kind of self-deceiver? Does faith consist merely of God’s felt presence; and if not, how long can faith truly continue without it? "Brandon" Fishkin
I’ve got ideas. Lots of them. They come out of my butt constantly and I’m not talking about …
Anyhoo, that’s why this is my 109th reiteration of starting over. This time, I’m going to blog about the adventure (back into) online marketing. You see, I know this stuff. I know it pretty well. I’ve been able to generate quite a bit of traffic to a blog here. However, I don’t have enough time or haven’t consistently done anything with it to really drive traffic like the blogs here on WordPress.com’ s Blogs of the Day.
If I did, I’m thinking I may have been possibly Brad Fallon (with more black hair of course) or Rand Fishkin of SEOMoz fame, but maybe without the beard. Well, today I’m not. However, I’m considering since I spend so much stinking time on the computer and love to watch traffic grow on my websites, I’m going to take a deep dive back into it, document it & maybe it might help some of you? Maybe I can make one of those cheesy “I’m going to make you rich” websites and make you hate me?!?
